A PLACE WHERE HATE FILLED GENERATIONS OF MEN+WOMEN TWIST GODS WORD

A home where you follow in the misinformed path of your parents or you no longer exist to them. In a place where there is no grey, it is only a deep shade of black and white, us vs. them, believers + non-believers, and family vs. outsiders. In a 20/20 piece done previously you get a sense of the disgusting reality that a deep hatred still exists among us.

Over the years men like Martin Luther King have preached equality and the message has seemingly gotten through the majority of US citizens in my opinion. There are still areas that are largely segregated and schools with a single race present but your never going to reach a point where each school has equal number of each ethnical backround all over the United States. I grew up in a town with a limited number of minorities besides the migrant farm workers that came in the summers to work the tobacco fields. In school we had 1 single student who was not white and he was one of my friends growing up and race was never talked about in my home because it was not an issue to us, imagine a home that preached HATRED of anyone who doesn't agree with your views, where just because of race or religion your told someone is going to burn in hell.

The children of the Westboro Baptist Church are raised in a strictly 1 dimentional belief system that says the Bible is the literal law of God and any person who violates the rules and lessons of the scriptures will suffer eternal damnation in hell. Chris Cuomo was the ABC news reporter who was front and center on this piece and ironically enough was the target of some of the hate filled speech of his first interview subject. No, this was not the head of the Westerboro Church, or even one of the many men who lead their families down this path, it was a 7 year old named Boaz Drain. He let Cuomo know that because of his jewish upbringing, "I don't think you'll go to heaven, I think you'll go to hell". Others who were destined included "gays, fags, and hundreds+ hundreds of jews".

I couldn't really wrap my head around this type of stuff coming out of a 7 year olds mouth to be honest. It's almost like when you hear a child say a naughty word and you have to pause because you couldn't have heard that right? Clearly when your 7 you don't have the full grasp of what your saying, these children are continually bombarded with "facts" each and every day throughout their developmental years hoping to brainwash them enough so that they are either too afraid to ever stray or mold them into the next generation of hate-filled believers.

Westboro has made headlines for over a decade because the recent war and coverage of soldiers funerals has given them the opportunity to reach living rooms across the world. The followers believe that because the United States condones homosexuality, divorce, and abortion all of the citizens are going to hell. They continue to picket the funerals of soldiers saying that their deaths are God's way of condemning their "enabling" of homosexuality.

My Take: This entire story is heartbreaking and disgusting depending on which followers your focusing on. The children are in such a terrible situation that i'm amazed all of this publicity has not lead to a more thorough investigation of these "societies/cults" that are poisioning the next generation with this filth. There has been so much progress made in the last 30-40-50 years and I think that's important to note. It's much more accepted to be of a different sexual orientation then it was even 10 years ago, inter-racial relationships are not as taboo as they used to be, our society is changing for the better and i'm proud of that.

Hearing this 7 year old repeat what his father says isn't just disgusting, it's criminal! These parents need to be locked up until they can be re-integrated back into society while their children are allowed to grow as normal kids, play with other kids with parents from wherever, learning and growing, developing their own set of beliefs. I know you can't force religion on someone but how is this religion? This is a distortion of the bible, GOD DOES NOT HATE, god is merciful, god loves, god forgives. I'm not overly religious by any means, but what these idiots are preaching is ridiculous. It doesn't even make sense. the reason they are allowed to protest the funerals of these soldiers, IS BECAUSE OF THOSE SOLDIERS WHO ARE FIGHTING FOR THEIR RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS!

THEY NEED TO RETHINK THEIR BELIEFS AND TAKE A LOOK IN THE MIRROR, THEY ARE WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE U.S., NOT ALL OF US!!!
