Another day another assistant coach at a prominent big time program accused of rape

Review: In the ESPN "Outside the Lines" reporting series linked above, 35 year assistant coach at Syracuse university basketball Bernie Fine has been accused by multiple men of forcibly touching them/sexual assault when they were age 13-27 in the initial accuser's case.

The victim states that he reported the assaults back in 2003 to the police but was told due to the statute of limitations having run out there was nothing they could do to persue the case and all of the witnesses they had been told to contact by him denied any knowledge of inappropriate touching. Along with these in discrepancies Syracuse did their own investigation and came up with no evidence to corroborate the claim in their 4 month investigation.

MY TAKE: At this point there is no evidence that proves Fine did anything wrong, any of what the two accusers have stated he did. Since the story broke ESPN aired a one on one interview with the second victim who happens to be a second cousin of the first victim. Both were ballboys at Syracuse for the men's basketball team. Fein emphatically denies any wrongdoing and until head coach Jim Boheim see hard evidence that his longtime friend betrayed his trust and is a sexual predator he said "I stand behind Bernie Fine until the day that I die."

Then again we all know how the "I swear I didn't do it, I have a wife and kids" speech's end up right? How about next he pulls "the clinton" and goes with "I DID NOT HAVE SEXUAL RELATIONS WITH THAT BOY". I just really hope that for once in these high profile cases it turns out there wasn't children hurt....what is society turning into? We all need to do our part to make this a safe place for the next generation to grow up, they need us to protect them until they can do it always, extend a hand!
